The village of Tortoreto, a treasure to be discovered

The village of Tortoreto is a place rich in history and culture, a small jewel to be discovered that every time surprises visitors with its wonderful views and its charm. Its history begins in a very distant era, so much so that there are numerous testimonies of settlements dating back to the Neolithic. During the Middle Ages Tortoreto was made up of two parts that are still called Terra-vecchia , made up of the oldest part of the city where we find the church of Sant’Eufemia, and Terranova , which includes the new castle and is characterized by towers at the corners of the cities, narrow streets and fantastic views of the sea and surrounding hills.

The village, located just outside the castle walls on a ridge overlooking the sea, dates back to 1400, and offers a breathtaking view of the coast, a recommended destination for all visitors. There are many attractions to discover in Tortoreto, such as the Torre dell’Orologio , one of the best known and most representative symbols of the city, the Church of the Madonna della Misericordia , rich in history and precious art inside , the Church of Sant’Agostino, the Church of San Nicola e the Church of Madonna del Carmine.
