The project is based on the themes of the enhancement of our aquatic environments and the understanding of the need for protection, knowledge of correctly practiced fishing, the culture of water and the links with our territory (plains, hills, mountains, sea).

Tortoreto, a seaside village, bases its economic history on tourism and fishing; while tourism is an activity based on the summer season (so-called hot air balloon), fishing is a source of work for most of the year.

Over the years, the Tortoretan citizens have managed to confirm themselves as one of the towns, despite not having a port, with a large number of boats for coastal fishing, clam fishing, trawling and lampare fishing, ... which have brought job opportunities to families.

The FLAG Costa Blu has paid Tortoreto a contribution to proceed with the reorganization and usability of our Ecomuseum of the Sea, located on the Sirena seafront; with the participation of sailors who have marked our fishing culture, it was possible to reconstruct the history, from the first boats, from the objects useful for fishing, the radios that kept in contact between the fishermen and the mainland, the nets, and the historical photos of the most evocative moments of a typical fisherman's day.
